Intellectual property (inventions, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets) is the catalyst for creating new wealth. Properly protected by obtaining patents and registering trademarks and copyrights this intellectual property provides the creator the exclusive right to exploit it for a limited time. Thus the creator can start a new business or enlarge an existing business and thereby create jobs and add to the economy.
It is anticipated that the new Congress will enact meaningful legislation in the near future to strengthen the patent law and further enhance the ability of entrepreneurs to exploit their intellectual property and create wealth.
