Congratulations to members Kent Peterson and Kevin Peterson who are celebrating the 25th anniversary of P2S Engineering!  Founded with John Soska, P2S is a full-service mechanical, electrical and technology engineering firm offering feasibility, design, commissioning, construction management and energy services. The firm provides consulting engineering services for industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, government facilities, institutions, and the building industry. P2S has offices in Long Beach and San Diego.

The firm averages more than 500 projects per year, and has grown from its three founding principals to a staff of over 150, including 50 registered engineers who are extremely well versed in mechanical and electrical engineering solutions for infrastructure and the built environment. P2S has been named in the top 20 medium-sized firms in Los Angeles County Best Places to Work by the Los Angeles Business Journal for the past seven years. The firm has also been repeatedly recognized as a leader in its industry by Consulting Specifying Engineer, Building Design & Construction and PSMJ Resources.

Congratulations to Donn Silberman and his Optics Institute of Southern California for launching two new optics and laser educational product lines.  They are offered through the websites at Go-Spectro-USA and e-Las Americas.  Go-Spectro is a simple device that turns any smartphone into a light spectrometer that allows you to measure, save and export light spectra...on the go!  eLas Americas offers more than 15 training systems including optics and laser fundamentals, laser metrology, fiber optics and telecommunications.  These are typically for education and training of students in laser technology from universities, community colleges, technical high schools and vocational schools.

Jim Watson of CMTC would like to share with our members a recent announcement on robotics manufacturing: The Department of Defense awarded the 14th Manufacturing USA institute – the Advanced Robotics Manufacturing (ARM) Innovation Hub – to American Robotics, Inc. The eighth DoD-led institute, the ARM Institute joins the Manufacturing USA network in its collective effort to help revitalize American manufacturing and incentivize companies to invest in new technology development in the United States.
