CHBC Announces Leadership Change, Election of Board Directors

CHBC Leadership Change, 2015 Board of Directors Elected
Jeffrey Reed of Southern California Gas Company elected President, AC Transit, Proton OnSite added to Board
 
Los Angeles, CA - February 9, 2015 - Today, the California Hydrogen Business Council (CHBC) announced election of Jeffrey Reed, Director of Business Strategy and Advanced Technology at Southern California Gas Company to the position of President of the CHBC. Further announcements included the appointment of David Armijo, General Manager of AC Transit, Matt Miyasato of the South Coast Air Quality Management District to the Board and election of five Directors.
At its December 17, 2014 Board Meeting in Diamond Bar, CA, three directors were re-elected, including Robert Bienenfeld, Assistant Vice President, Environment & Energy Strategy of American Honda Motor Company as Vice President, Larry Stapleton, VP Sales from Ballard Power Systems and Richard Cromwell, Consultant to Clean Energy Fuels, as Director-at-Large. New additions to the Board include Steve Jones, Managing Director of ITM Power, and Steven Szymanski, Director of Government Business at Proton OnSite.
"For Southern California Gas Company, the hydrogen and fuel cell industry is developing key markets with tremendous opportunity to expand the use of low-carbon gaseous fuels in California, and the CHBC is an important organization to help expand these markets and reduce barriers to emerging technology adoption," said Jeff Reed. "I am honored to receive the trust of the membership of this organization and look forward to leading the CHBC during these exciting times."
Upon his election, Jeff Reed thanked former CHBC President Mark Abramowitz for his highly successful leadership of the organization during the last four transitional years, and was recognized by the Board for his outstanding service and dedication. Mark continues to serve the Board as Immediate Past President.
The new Directors bring an unprecedented experience and increased diversity to the CHBC. AC Transit's David Armijo has more than 30 years of experience in government and has served as chief executive for transit agencies in California, New Mexico, Texas and Florida. Dr. Matt Miyasato is the Deputy Executive Officer for Science & Technology Advancement at the South Coast Air Quality Management District and is responsible for their Technology Advancement Office, Mobile Source Division, and Monitoring and Laboratory Analysis Division. Steve Jones has been with ITM Power for 10 years and is currently the Managing Director of ITM Power Inc and head of the international business development team. Finally, as Director of Government Business at Proton OnSite, Steve Szymanski is responsible for developing strategic relationships and advancing business and research opportunities for emerging market and defense applications.
